Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is another technique for skin rejuvenation. The procedure is performed using a specialized machine which rapidly but painlessly shoots small crystals of sodium bicarbonate against the epidermis, thereby removing the outer dry dead skin layer, otherwise known as the stratum corneum. Studies have shown that this increases the cell turnover of the epidermis and can improve the surface texture of the skin and make it appear more vital and more even in color. It is also an effective way to treat blocked pores, and patients with comedonal acne can see some an improvement after four to five treatments performed every two to three weeks.
Microdermabrasion can be combined with Chemical Peels to achieve a more accelerated response.
