Chemical Peels
We are pleased to offer our patients the benefits of Chemical Peels for skin rejuvenation and in the treatment of acne. We offer various strengths Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid or TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) to better meet the needs of your skin.
These low pH solutions are an effective way to exfoliate the skin and stimulate a more fresh looking epidermis. Many types of patients can benefit from a series of Chemical Peels which can play a vital role in improving either a mottled complexion of pigmented spots, skin roughness or acne comedones. The milder solutions have very little down time, aside from several days of skin peeling, not unlike a mild sunburn. Patients with more advanced epidermal damage would do better to have a TCA peel which causes more exfoliation to the epidermis while higher strengths of TCA can affect the upper dermis and may even improve fine lines.
Our office would be pleased to educate you about your various Chemical Peel options. We can walk you through the process of a Chemical Peel and “prime” your skin in the weeks prior to you procedure to ensure a more even response to the chemical peel solution and encourage accelerated healing after the procedure. To this end, we ask patients to be on a combination of a topical retinoid cream, such as Retin A, and a Hydroquinone Fade Cream during the weeks leading up to your procedure. This protocol is more important with the medium strength chemical peels containing TCA, while the milder chemical peels do not necessarily have to go through this “priming” process
Chemical Peels are one way to rejuvenate aging skin damaged by years of sun exposure. We also offer Skin Care Products for sale in the office which contain important beneficial compounds, such as alpha hydroxy acid. Some of our products contain antioxidants that help decrease damaging free radicals in our skin. and encourage healthier collagen and elastin fibers in the dermis. Both Vitamin C cream and Retinoic Acid cream have proven to be important components of a successful skin care program.
